Start your own University chapters of TOWA at your university!
My name is Hailey Boeck, and I am a Masters student at Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi studying marine biology. I have also been an active Texas Outdoor Writer Member (TOWA) student member for the past 2 years, and I have recently been appointed as the new Student Chapter Chair of this amazing organization. As chair, I have some exciting ideas that I want YOU to be a part of.
As TOWA Student Members, we are a part of a unique network that allows us to grow our education and careers. In an effort to increase this networking, TOWA is making more opportunities available for students and increasing the number of sponsorships to attend the annual conference FREE or at a reduced price for our student members. This means more fun AND more free conferences and events!
To take advantage of all TOWA has to offer, I am encouraging all of our current student members (this means YOU) to start University chapters of TOWA at your university. I can be your point person the whole way through - from writing your organization's constitution to designing flyers to scheduling events. If you're interested in this awesome opportunity to found an organization, get students from your university involved, and present at TOWA annual conferences with your fellow classmates and friends - not to mention the amazing things you'll be adding to your resume - then please contact the association.
Regardless of whether you would like to start a university chapter of TOWA or not, we still want to network with you. Look out in the future for a Student TOWA Facebook group, and in the meantime, please reply with a quick bio of yourself. We'd like to know where you are in school, what you're studying, hometown, favorite things about the outdoors, your interest in TOWA, etc.
Looking forward to working with you!
