Dan Klepper Memorial Scholarship

What is it? 

To support the next generation of communicators, the Texas Outdoor Writers Association is dedicated to maintaining and improving skills in the written and spoken word, radio and television, photography, illustration, electronic media and other means of mass communication.

Who is Dan Klepper?

Dan Klepper was a legendary outdoor writer for the San Antonio Express-News. He was an outstanding investigative reporter, outdoor enthusiast, and wildlife conservationist. One of the founders of the Texas Outdoor Writers Association, he was active in the organization throughout his lifetime.

Who Can Get it?

Students currently enrolled in an accredited Texas college or university who are preparing for a career relating  to the outdoors, environmental conservation, or wildlife management and conservation and whose plans include communicating their stories, findings, opinions, and observations with the general public through mass media are eligible to apply for the $2,000 scholarship. Communication can include print media, radio, television, presentations, photography, illustration, and electronic media.

One or more winners will be selected. The winner or winners will be presented at the annual TOWA Conference. 

Currently the Dan Klepper Scholarship is on hold until further notice
