SOUTH PITTSBURG, TN – After nearly two years of construction, Lodge Manufacturing Company is proud to
announce that the first phase of our foundry expansion is complete.
Strong sales of Lodge Cast Iron Cookware throughout the past decade necessitated the addition of a
third manufacturing line; the expansion increases capacity by approximately 50%. The company produces
over 120 cast iron cookware and serving items for domestic and international markets.
Featuring two 10-ton furnaces, the new Lodge melt center began operation in February 2104. In
November and December of 2014, a new mold system, cleaning systems and a seasoning line were
integrated into the production process.
The expansion has altered this small community’s skyline, with two new sand towers, standing
119 feet and 97 feet tall, used for the production and recycling of sand cast molds.
The second phase of the expansion includes updating two older production lines installed in the
1990s. When the updates are completed, Lodge Manufacturing Company will have the world’s most
technologically advanced cast iron cookware foundry.
Founded by Joseph Lodge in 1896, Lodge is the sole domestic manufacturer of seasoned cast iron
cookware and it is the oldest family owned cookware company in the country. Two great-grandsons
and a great-great-grandson are on the company’s management team.
