The Stampede keeps growing. Each year it fulfills a bit more of its purpose and more folks join TOWA. This year we had the benefit of pre-event activities. The boys from SELLMARK and F1 FIREARMS took advantage of a “hog hunt for four” donated by the Boar’s Nest. Then, new TOWA member, Ms. Brooklee Grant took a stand along the Colorado River and she and I lit up a pack of coyotes squawked in with TOWA supporting member’s Burnham Bros. predator calls. New TOWA member JACKSON KAYAKS treated folks to play in the Colorado River during the same time as the RAM Trucks “ride and drive”, and the RAM and SELLMARK shooting teams, along with numerous TOWA members and the general public competed in the SELLMARK TEXAS CHALLENGE SHOOTING COMPETITIONS. The All-Around winner of the sporting clays, long range, and pistol competitions was TOWA student member Kolton Haverland shooting for the SELLMARK Team. The BIG News for the Stampede is that in its third year it banked just under $2,000. Whether the ROI is justifiable may only be measured by the enthusiasm of new members and the willingness of new supporting members to help the event grow – and it beats a poke in the eye when considering how many events have lost or broke even. We’re on the right track.
The TOWA 2020 Annual Conference is being held in Bryan/College Station, March 5, 6, and 7 at the Stella Hotel. This year’s theme is “The Outdoor Machine”. The seminars will focus on craft improvement, as well as, explaining the relationships between manufacturers and active members. Volunteers to speak (so far) include Mr. Whitetail Larry Weishuhn and TPWD photographer Earl Nottingham. This year’s venue is a promising site to showcase the wares of supporting members and to welcome new TOWA members. This is AGGIELAND – we’re on the right track!
